Position Title: Vice President of Finance

Division/Office: Orlando

Position Reports to (Title): Division President

Direct Reports to Position: Assistant Controller or Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Responsible for providing division management and Corporate with timely and accurate financial management expertise, statements, reports, forecasts and analyses. Performing accounting services, establishing division accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with Division President to ensure the divisionís activities are managed in compliance with division and corporate objectives and in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements, reports and forecasts as required
  • Prepare annual financial plans, development and financing proformas and packages. Prepare tax and audit information as needed by the Company.
  • Establish and review budgets for land development, homebuilding and marketing and administrative expenses. Generate financial analyses of existing and prospective developments.
  • Ensure proper absorption of costs by determining appropriate allocation procedures, transfer prices and amortization rates.
  • Safeguard the Divisionís capital assets and act positively to limit potential liabilities.
  • Administer project financing, including the preparation of budgets, draw requests and reports, and repayment of interest and principal.
  • Oversee processing of invoices to insure the accurate and timely payment of all vendors and subcontractors in accordance with contracts and budgets and ensure that real property is protected from mechanics liens. Sign all checks as Vice President of Finance and typically with another authorized officer. Ensure proper classification of all revenues and expenses.
  • Supervise the procurement of and maintenance office supplies and equipment, including personal computers, printers, copiers, communication services, temporary employees, and maintenance and repair services.      
  • Responsible for the proper management of cash from operations and wiring excess funds from local to Parent Company accounts.
  • Maintain effective verbal and written communication with all levels within the division, Corporate and the Parent Company.
  • Responsible for approving each payroll.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:           Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in accounting and finance.

EXPERIENCE:          7+ years of progressive accounting experience, through the controller level. A background in real estate development and/or production building is preferable. Professional certification as CPA or CMA is desirable.

SKILLS:                    An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting with emphasis on job costing, and a background in income tax or real estate law. Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet applications and accounting systems. Effective management and motivational skills. Excellent communication skills.
